Navigating the music industry can be challenging. Not sure where to start? Not sure of the first step to getting your music out there? Once it's out there, then what? How to grow your listener base? How to mold your brand? What IS a brand? What are your goals? Sometimes you just need some advice on where to get started and how to stay organized, and sometimes you need help actually accomplishing some of those tasks. Either way, our team can help by getting you set off in the right direction, and being there to consult, and, if needed, actually helping you tackle some of the tasks that are needed to make your music a success. You decide how much - or how little - support you need, and we are there to help fill in the gaps.
One of the first steps to establishing your brand is securing an on-line presence. Some artists have all of their music pages established, some just need a refresh to ensure consistency, and some don't know where to start. If needed, we can help setup or refresh your on-line presence including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, and can develop a centralized Linktree landing page to bring them all together in one space for your fans. Some artists want to completely control all social media posts; others want total hands-off...both ways are totally fine! For artists who are more hands-off, we provide posting and monitoring services in conjunction with ad campaigns. In addition, we can connect you with a local marketing company who exclusively develops social media content for small businesses, including musicians, at a very reasonable price. If you are ready to take your online presence even further, we can also assist in your website setup.
Distribution is the key to making your music available to listeners world-wide. Songwriter Music exclusively uses CDBaby to provide distribution services to digital partners including Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music, and YouTube (just to name a few). If needed, we can develop artwork for your song, ensuring all specifications are met. Once your tracks are complete (including mixing and mastering), an ISRC code is assigned, and together with your polished album art, your masterpiece is ready to upload for distribution on your desired release date!
It's important to give yourself plenty of time between upload and release to ensure all digital partners can get your music ready for your listeners and you have time to adequately let your fans know new music is arriving! We can help you with your release strategy, and also to assist you to timeline the events, a release plan is generated to help you hit all the milestone events leading up to and after your release. There are several firm requirements for a release, but for many others you can pick and choose elements of the plan that suit your personal release strategy, and that fit into the budget for the release. With all of the marketing options available, you can spend a LOT of money in a short amount of time, so we can help you to prioritize elements of the release that will make the most sense for you, and help you balance the cost of a single release while still building and growing your brand with future releases. One important piece of advice about your music business: remember, it's a marathon, not a race. Consistency is key...keeping engagement with your audience...offering them new material at regular intervals...and managing your budget so that you can maintain those efforts for the long term.
A sure way to rapidly increase your fan base is to land on the right playlist. After your first release, you are eligible to set up artist accounts on several platforms, including Spotify. Then, with an official artist page, you can pitch subsequent releases directly to Spotify for possible placement on editorial playlists! Score!!!! Beyond this, connecting with playlist curators can be a time consuming, frustrating, and fruitless task. However, using a service called "Groover," you are able to select and pitch your songs directly to organic playlist curators. Click here for a short video that tells more about Groover. Another great way to expose your music world-wide is through placement on internet radio stations. One service we have used with excellent success is Airplay Direct. We have helped Songwriter Music artists with both of these services - we would be happy to tell you more about the results we have seen, and then you can decide if either (or both!) are a good use of your marketing budget for a release. We would be happy to help with executing any or all of these marketing campaigns, or we can set up a consulting session to walk you through the process.
If a full blown-music video is in your budget, AWESOME!!! We can do a lot of things, but creating full-blown videos just isn't one of them. We can recommend videographers in our area who can help with that. But often times, for an emerging artist a lyric video more aligns with the marketing budget, and offers an excellent way to present your music visually without breaking the bank. Songwriter Music offers lyric video production that premiers on release day so your song immediately reaches your listeners with impact.
Among other things, publishers register songwriter’s work with the appropriate Performing Rights Organization, or PRO, to ensure you receive all royalties for your music, as well as help get your songs in the hands of music supervisors for possible placement in places like movies and TV shows. If you are a songwriter, as an option, Songwriter Music can help if you are affiliated with either BMI or ASCAP. (If you are a writer who is not established with a PRO, you need to be! You could be missing out on some of your royalties.)
To maintain our personalized service, we are currently only serving artists in NW Florida and surrounding areas. We work closely with artists who record at Studio 812, Paradigm Music Group, and Alpha Music Media, but can (and do!) work with other artists in the region as scheduling allows. We are working on expanding our content to allow subscription-based access to exclusive content and online resources for all artists, no matter where they are located. If this is something that might interest you, be sure to follow us on social media and sign up for our email list so we can keep in touch. Till then you can also check out the resources page to find some great links and ideas for taking your music career to the next level.
This is just a partial list of the services that we provide to artists. Remember, as an independent artist, you are the business. We are here to help you navigate the music business and fill in the gaps by helping with some of the tasks needed to make your music a success. It's a balance between budget and time, and we'd love to help you find the balance that is just right for you.
